Discover the Natural and Historic Charm of Anacortes

Find out on the latest Neighborhoods program how Anacortes offers residents and visitors their own slice of paradise.

Volunteer efforts have transformed the Ship Harbor Interpretive Preserve from a wetlands area to a beach combing and bird watching destination. This preserve also includes a fully paved pathway for multiple users on the Guemes Channel Trail.

Washington Park also offers lots of room to roam on its 228 acres complete with camping facilities, boat launch, picnic and playground area, and a scenic two-mile loop for a leisurely walk or jog.

Referred to by owner Frank Michaud as a “hometown emporium”, The Store is a neighborhood bakery, deli, wine shop, and café that has won over customers worldwide with its muffins and unique selections.

Learn how seafood processing played an important economic role in elevating Anacortes as the salmon canning capitol of the world at the Anacortes Museum. The museum’s largest artifact, the W.T. Preston, is a national historic landmark that was brought to Anacortes after a long career of service in the Puget Sound as a snag boat. April-October you can go back in time as a crew-member on the W.T. Preston and experience a piece of maritime history.

Part bar, restaurant, grocery, and a tiny part gas station – Anderson’s General Store and Restaurant on Guemes Island has it all. Anderson’s has become the perfect place for one-stop shopping or a delightful evening dinner served by four-star chef, Ryan Howser – serving honey caviar, ahi tuna poke and more.

Anacortes’ annual festivals bring the community together in the heart of their lively downtown. Popular festivals include the Waterfront festival and the Arts festival where more than 250 artisans transform 6 city blocks the first weekend in August.

With trails and beaches to explore, stunning views, and a vibrant downtown with unique shops and eateries, Anacortes has something for everyone.
